November 19, 2007

Well well well, last week of blogging. So guess what! It’s going to be EXTRA long *evil laugh*. Ok, my mum has been taping Video Hits right, and I’ve been watching two Foo Fighter’s clips and one Backstreet Boys clip. The Foo Fighters clips were “Learning to Fly” and something like “Long road to Ruin”. Anywho, the “Learning to Fly” clip is freaking hilarious. They dress up (the band members) and it’s sooo funny. I’ll see if I can find it anywhere..!!! Here it is…(hopefully the crappy school computers will show it) AHHHH SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA!!!! *mimicking voice* Copywrite laws don’t let us show it out of the US….Stupid thing…Let’s see if this works:
Oh oh oh, stupid YouTube doesn’t want to be posted here *hmmph* So, here’s a linky to a site with the video clip (if it doesn’t work, well, I’ll kill it!)

And this is the Backstreet Boys one. I love this clip with all the monsters (Werewolf, Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, The Mummy, Dr.Jeckyl/Mr.Hyde)

And now for more random things. HOMG! How hot was it today! I was wearing my dress and I was boiling…OW! I just found a scratch on my foot where my bloody cat decided to grab on when I was waking up (mum put him on my bed). Owies…PICTURE TIME!!! Meh, the picture doesn’t look good. Anywho, I have two scratches on my foot….

He looks like Mark Warey from the Wedge, and he’s apologizing to his fans and his family just like Mark Warey does!!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!! Fricken hilarious!!!! It’s the spitting image!!!!!!

Back to the Anubis table. Well, Anubis is my favourite Egyptian god, and I have a table with statues of him.

Computer Games – Good or Bad?

November 14, 2007

Before we decide whether or not computer/video games are bad, there are many facts and opinions to consider. For example, many people feel that these games are too violent and that they cause an undervelopment in the frontal lobe. Others feel that games are helpful and educational. There is also a health concern.

According to Professor Ryuta Kawashima, “The importance of this discovery cannot be underestimated. There is a problem we will have with a new generation of children – who play computer games – that we have never seen before. The implications are very serious for an increasingly violent society and these students will be doing more and more bad things if they are playing games and not doing other things like reading aloud or learning arithmetic.” I do not agree with this statement fully, though I can understand that it does occur in some cases. I love playing computer and video games. When I was younger I used to play a James Bond game with my friends. We also played Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. I used to love those games, and I remember making them “turn off the blood” because I ddin’t like that side to it. I still play video games, and though they may include shooting, fighting and other violence, you don’t see me beating up somebody because of a video game. I do know that there are some bad people in the world who have hurt someone because they were influenced by violent games.

Another concern is the underdevelopment of the frontal lobe. As written by Tracy McVeigh, education editor, “Whenever you use self control to refrain from lashing out or doing something you should not, the frontal lobe is hard at work. Children often do things they shouldn’t because their frontal lobes are underdeveloped. The more work done to theicken the fibres connecting the neurons in this part of the brain, the better the child’s ability will be to control their behaviour. The more the area is stimulated, the more these fibres will thicken.” I think I agree with this statement, becasue I have seen the behaviour of the people around me, they seem out of control sometimes. They speak before they think, they fight constantly and are always in other people’s faces.

One guy states “I’m not going to argue that violent entertainment is harmless. I think it has helped inspire some people to real-life violence. I am going to argue that it’s helped hundreds of people for every one it’s hurt, and that it can help far more if we learn to use it well. I am going to argue that our fear of ‘youth violence’ isn’t well-founded on reality and that the fear can do more harm than the reality. We act as though our highest priority is to prevent our children fron growing up into murderous thugs – but modern kids are far more likely to grow up too passive, too distrustful of themselves, too easily manipulated”. I agree more with him than Professor Kawashima, because I don’t find that video games influence EVERYONE to be violent. I feel that they release anger by hurting fictional characters on a screen rathern than real-life people and animals.

Professor Angela McFarlane says “Adventure, quest and simulation type games have a lot of benefit – they’re quite complex and create a context in which children can develop important skills…We’re not advocating arcate, shot-the-baddie type games…Now that’s interesting when the stereotype is that children play on the computer exclusively on their own. Teachers and parents then broke that down into skills of negotiation, planning, strategic thinking and decision-making.” I feel that if television can teach us, so can video games.

Video and computer games can cause health problems. In every instruction book for games there are warnings. Some people suffer from a condition called Photosensitive Epilepsy. As said by Professor Graham Harding, “Photosensitive epilepsy is best defined as a tendency to recurrent convulsions, precipitated either by flashing lights or patterns.” I have only ever had one fit in my life, when I was younger. I was diagnosed with occipital epilepsy. I’ve always played video games and hadn’t had a problem. We got a PS2 (PlayStation 2) for Christmas last eyar, and while I was playing I felt dizzy. This occured with every game on PS2 except Buzz, though it’s a quiz game and doesn’t have all those flashy graphics. I can play on the Computer, my Nintendo DS and my GameCube without a problem, it seems to just be the PS2. I agree that video games can cause health problems, though if you do everything you need to (e.g. not playing a certain game, having a break etc.) you should be alright.

Computer games – are they good or bad? In my opinion, I think that they are enjoyable, though they aren’t for some people. Those people who can be so cruel as to murder an innocent kitten or beat up a person due to these games are the reasons why there are doubts about computer and video games. Computer games are both good and bad. Good because they are enjoyable and can be educational, though bad because they cause some violence. Just remember, more people kill in the name of God than violent computer games.

Term 4 – Week 6

November 13, 2007

Wow. Nothing much has happened since EFFICIENT WON THE CUP!!!! Another horse I like (Flea Flicker) came third on Saturday, I decided not to go because I cbf. HOMG! Gold Edition got second. Did anyone see the race? Gold Edition and Miss Andretti absolutely thrashed the other four horses.

My mum and I took Pudden to the vet today, because she had these stupid prickle things in her gums (they have hooks on the end and hook into her gums, poor dog.) Anywho, the vet was really rough because she was growling and threatened to bite him (she had threatened to bite my mum and dad the day before and that was why we came to the vet) She’s alright now, she had an antibiotics injection and we got some sedatives to make her sleepy so mum can get them out. Her mouth is infected, hence the antibiotics.

Had to do an essay today in Media, I wrote three pages (hmmm, spelling my numbers instead of using 3?) because a lot of it was answers to quotes. I’ll write that up later (I think I have it in my bag…). Anywho, I have to do my whole English assignment tonight because I was doing my science poster last night and I didn’t have my book for a week and a bit (someone borrowed it). It’s on the book Night. Here’s the *changes into HTML mode* link.

I love making HTML, I was making a lot on the weekend for this site. I’ll show you some (I’ll just make a quick B2G board) Click each link to take a look

Now, I’m sitting here eating fish and chips…well…rather, potato cakes and chips. I wanted pizza but nooooo, I was outvoted (two to one). Oh well, it still tastes alright (though hawaiin (or however you spell it) would have been better). I’ll be back, I’m going to watch Futurama.

*le sigh* It wasn’t the episode I wanted to watch. Has anyone seen the episode where Fry was like “What if life was like a video game”? And then there’s Pac-Man and Donkey Kong and Space Invaders and other things…Wiki Link aaaand! Here’s a link to a site where you can watch the episode…might do that at dads. Episode

Anywho….PACMAN!!!! (from the episode)

Anywho….nothing much else to say. I’m going to the races on Friday, I love the horse races (as you can see from my other blogs, lol).

Wow, nothing much to say…………………………………………………………..

Will edit if something actually happens during the week =^_^=

Term 4 – Week 5

November 6, 2007

HOMG! HOMG! HOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EFFICIENT WON THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!! I ALWAYS PICK EFFICIENT AND HE WOOOON!!!!!!!!!!! WOOH!!!!!!!!!! PICTURE TIME!!!! Herald Sun Article and The Age Article PICTURE TIME FOR THIS WONDERFUL HORSE!

And I also won on Volcada =^_^=

HOMG! There was this horrific fall….here’s the article and some pictures. They were in the straight (almost home) and Bay Story snapped a hind leg, and Bling Bling fell over him. Bay Story had to be put down. The Article HOMG! If you really want to, you can see the video here (another article, it’s a news story, drag the bar forward a bit). I remember watching it on TV and I’m like, what’s that horse doing? And then he fell. It was really sad….Here
Pictures: I’m pretty sure Bay Story is the one (in some pics) trying to get up and dragging his leg, while Bling Bling is on the ground. Mark Zhara has a fractured wrist, bruised wrist, corked thigh and twisted/bruised ankle (depends which story you read), while Greg Childs had a sore neck.

I almost cried when I saw it. I hate when they fall, especially the jumping races. Each time I see the jumping races they almost always fall, only once was one put down, the others usually continue without their jockeys (pretty funny because they just leave their jockeys and keep running)

HOMG! I saw old footage of Andrew Payne (used to be a jockey, now a trainer) and a jockey fell of their horse and he was about to fall off and somehow got on the other horse (the one without a jockey) I’ll look for pics… It was absolutely amazing!

“Payne is a member of one Australia’s most famous racing families but gained fame on his own as a 17-year-old apprentice when he changed horses mid-race in the Christmas Handicap at Caulfield on Boxing day 1996.
The incident made headlines around the world after Andrew started the race on board Hon Kwok Star but finished it on Cogitate.
In a freakish incident on the home turn Hon Kwok Star collided with Cogitate, dislodging Payne’s brother-in-law, Jason Patton who crashed to the turf.
The impact knocked Payne sideways and catapulted him in to the saddle of Cogitate who went on to finish the race, although unplaced.
Payne still marvels at the incident which happened in a matter of few strides but is happy to trade that fame for next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
“I have always wanted to make headlines, but for something I actually put thought in to,” Payne said.”

Found that in an article. Now, to try and find the pic….

Well, I couldn’t find it! That sucks! Well, it looked amazing.

Anywho, not much else to report. I’ll see if I have a pic of my Formal dress here. Here it is. This was taken at the races….earlier this year I think….

I don’t have a picture of my shoes =^_^=

Anywho, I’ve followed Efficient for over a year, I’m so glad he won! I was nearly in tears with joy (after I jumped around my dads lounge room yelling “GO GO GO EFFICIENT!”) I’ve never picked a cup winner before!

Right now, I’m listening to Phantom of the Opera. Mum bought me the CD today, for my dance solo. YUCK!!!! I just started tea and I have to eat broccoli (something to do with “it’s good for you” and if I eat it I don’t have to eat any other vegies) awww, no corn. I’m eating Roast. PICTURE TIME! But there’s no broccoli, unless you want me to show you it in my mouth or vomit it up it’s goooone! Actually, CBF. It’s just 4 (oh god) small round pieces of meat. Hmmm, not too bad (I don’t like roast, or a lot of foods for that matter) OOOO! *clapclap* OVERTURE! I loved it when I saw it at the theatre. Twas my favourite part.

Because of the Cup we missed out on a Media lesson, so I can’t post media.

HOMG! I didn’t mention Cougar! Weird eh? Maybe it’s because I actually have something to right about (thank you Efficient and cup day).

Well, the song I’m doing goes for three minutes (that’s 3) Actually, to be precise, 3 mins 34 seconds. Hmmm, luckily I’ve starteed choreographing already =^_^= HAHA! My dance class has to sit through my dancing for three and a half minutes! As the American’s say *neener neener* HOMG! On MSN I have a fox that’s my *neener* =^_^= HOMG! I FOUND THE WEBSITE WITH IT!!!! Linky

Buh-byes =^_^=

Edit: Interesting Media lesson….advertising =^_^= Got my CD that had what we did at the Alfred Brash Soundhouse thingamajig. Nothing much else to say about Media.

Term 4 – Week 4

October 31, 2007

We finished filming this week! *dances*! And if the editing doesn’t work then we’re done! WOOH! Stoopid slow school computers! Anywho, it’s Halloween tonight, and I don’t celebrate it, because mum says that it’s an American holiday. I’m home alone and some trick or treaters came and we don’t have anything here so I’m like, I’m not opening the door! Besides, there’s no car there. Anywho, before, I was on this page, and the lights flickered, and then music came out of the headphones that were on the desk. But I knew there was music on the page, I just was like WTF? Last time the lights flickered the power went out…

I’m about to watch V for Vendetta again, though I haven’t seen it for AGES! And yes, I think I cried when I first saw it. V For Vendetta Wiki Page

HOMG! I watched that So you think you can dance (CBF doing the capitals) episode where they all cried and guess what!? I cried as soon as the choreographer began crying AT THE START OF THEIR PART! The dance hadn’t even started! So you think you can dance And that link has the winner of the season being aired on TV at the moment (stoopid Aussie TV is so far behind the US! They chose the winner AGES ago!)

I’m thinking of doing my Dance exam (we have to choreograph a solo) to The Phantom of the Opera song. I love it. And I can dance contempory to it too. None of this hip-hop stuff that I don’t feel comfortable in. Ha, my dance class has to do it on stage and I’m like, “I don’t want to”. So, I don’t have to *smilesmile*. Also, my knees have been playing up, first it was the *checks L on hands* right knee, on the inside, then in Japan it was sorta both because of all the walking, then when I came back it was the inside of the left knee and then now it’s the outside! But, we ran in THEORY PE yesterday. THEORY! Urgh, I hate running and doing step up and doing push ups! Does it look like these scrawny chicken wings can do push ups? NO! AAAAND! Guess what? I’m soooo bored I even took a picture for you peoples.

And guess what! MORE COUGAR PICS! I took a heap but his eyes kept coming out just yellow, cause of the flash. It looks like he’s an ebil cat.

Looking at the camera.

Lazy cat WITH SPOTS ON HIS BELLY!

Piggy cat

In “HIS” room

Peeking on the peoples outside.

I have Media on Friday, but if the editing program doesn’t work I’ll have nothing to do…(I’ll find something though, I’ve got a book to read and I can do other things….)

Anywho, that’s all this week. THANK GOD HEROES IS BACK!

h1

Term 4 – Week 3

October 22, 2007

Hello again. There’s nothing much to report actually, very boring. I watched Phantom of the Opera last week, the movie. I hadn’t seen it before. I watched it twice, cried both times. I found out that Dumbledore (the character) is gay. Interesting….I would have liked to have known before the series was over! Oh well. Wonder if they’ll add it to the movies now….

STUPID POWER!

The power just completely went out. The lights flickered, mum said “Cat, turn off the computer” and then the power went out. We decided to go out to buy KFC, and when we came back the power was back on. KFC is so bloody fattening. Here’s a link to KFC

And I even took a picture for you people. (I ate the last piece of chicken just then *smilesmile*)

Now, I’m really bored right now (as you can see I even positioned the food)

God, KFC food is so greasy. I’m glad we didn’t get maccas, I almost lived on it in Japan (not good). And “Substitute Maccas”. Sub-maccas was where we ate when the teachers said we couldn’t have maccas. The site is in Japanese =^_^= Lotteria

Anywho…Spring Racing Carnival. HOMG! Did anyone see the Caufield Cup? The favourite hurt himself, and another mare WENT UNDER THE BARRIER! Herald Sun Article and You can see a bit of the blood here (the bay horse (non-white horse if you didn’t guess already)) ahhh, Better shot

We had a single Media today (Tuesday) and by the time the class settled down and the computer decided to work, the class was over. What a waste of time! Hopefully we can finish the short movie on time! But I’m not holding my breath, because the school computers are too bloody slow and it’ll probably take ages to upload! On Friday (now today), we filmed some more, but we haven’t had a full group (unless you count the single on Tuesday). It was so funny, the Cliff part I mean =^_^=

Term 4 – Week 2

October 17, 2007

Another week has passed. No football, no rugby. Nothing. There isn’t really much to write about….

I’ve been watching Cats quite a bit, I absolutely love that movie. I’m trying to find if they’re ever going to come to Australia again, because I’m definately (hopefully *touch wood*) going to go. It was in Tassie and Brisbane recently.

There’s really nothing to write here……………….

That idiot Ben Cousins got caught. Stupid idiot. Honestly, he must have known he couldn’t get away with it.

Let’s see…

In Media, my group is ready to shoot the movie. I reckon it will be fun. I love editing movies, but on those pieces of crap at school I reckon it will take a while.

I don’t like being back at school. I hate it. Some classes are alright, like Media and Science. I’m not saying that I hate the other subjects, I just don’t want to be at school.

I got a Cheshire Cat pencil case. I think that the Cheshire Cat is soooo cute! Now for some Cheshire Cat pictures and I’m even including a Link to a description about the lovely Cheshire Cat

HOMG! Someone looked at my pencil case and said “The Cheshire Cat looks crazy.” Well, DUH!

Wow, this blog is short compared to my others.

I got a Facebook the other day. Don’t know what it does, but my friends wanted me to get it. So now I have it.

I haven’t done anything interesting lately, so I have nothing to put here. But it has filled up the box so that was all I needed to do. Pictures, links, media stuff. That’s all for now.

h1

Term 4 – Week 1

October 12, 2007

Well, I’m back from Japan. I came back on an overnight flight this morning =^_^= I’m still feeling sick….Japan was awesome…most of the time. I hated walking up and down all those bloody stairs! And the hills! On one of the days it absolutely poured, and we had to walk up this big hill and then climb stairs, and I was completely soaked (I didn’t have an umbrella). I met some nice people from the other two campuses, and had a great time with Kimberleigh. HOMG! At Disneyland, Danielle, Simona, Kimberleigh and I went on 1 ride. Why? Well, the lines were about 3 HOURS LONG! The only ride we went on was to do with the movie “Who framed Roger Rabbit?” I like that movie. I’m just looking for the website now… CRAAAAAAAAAAP! I have to resize the pictures to put on here, *le sigh*
Here’s the web addy
Clicky here
And here’s the only ride I went on Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Car Spin

Anywho, I hated not being able to talk on the Public Transport, and the people in the hotels kept complaining about us (except the last one, but the last one was a back packer’s hotel, far from luxury.) We had to be “Ninja’s”, (e.g. “Densha Ninja’s” (Train Ninja’s)) HOMG! I didn’t buy all that much. I got a Cheshire cat pencilcase and keyring from Disneyland, a Japanese electric dictionary, a deer keyring, and something else…I think….(can’t remember…). HOMG! There was a Halloween parade in Disneyland, and Kimberleigh and I, both of us are quite shy, sang and did the movements. It was so much fun! The Japanese were probably like, Bloody Foreigners, but oh well…
Here are some pics from my time in Japan:

Danielle, Simona and I in front of Kinkakuji (Golden Temple)

HOMG!!! There are soooo many temples in Japan!

One of the chicks in Harajuku. They dressed so different to the other people of Japan.

One of the costumed peoples in the Parade.

The Disney thingamagig. And a Dumbo ride. I took this while waiting for the parade.

Myddleton and his tiny little Mickey hat *shudders*

And my Panda toy that I brought in some tall tower. HOMG! I love Pocky! (Chocolate covered sticks =^_^= )

HOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MELBOURNE STORM WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Myddleton had held a meeting and me and this other guy were waiting to find out the score. As soon as the meeting finished he quickly called home and got the score. I was so happy! Mum and dad kept the newspaper articles and mum taped some things on the news. I’m about to watch the game now =^_^= I would have loved to have been there, but there’s always next year *touch wood*

There’s nothing else to talk about, since I haven’t had a media class. I’ve read Andy’s blog, and it seems we’ve already been given the assignment. So I’ll get that next lesson.

OOOO! Heroes was on, mum taped it and I have two episodes to watch now (after the Storm game)

Buh-bye for now =^_^=

h1

Bye byes!

September 26, 2007

Well, I’m going to Japan in, oh, 2 DAYS!!!!!! Right now I’m sitting here watching Cats for the second time today (the musical). I’m sooooo excited for Japan. I’ve already packed, did that Monday night, and I’ve got all my Aussie crap to take over (including pressies). Anywho, has anyone seen Cats? My fave is the white one, Victoria, and Rumpelteazer. I love the Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer song.

Here’s a pic of Victoria: (small, couldn’t find a better one)

And Rumpelteazer with her brother, Mungojerrie:

And a close up of Rumpelteazer’s makeup:

I went and saw Cats when I was younger and I loved it. =^_^=

Here’s the Wiki link =^_^= Cats

Anyway, that’s it…

Bye byes! I’ll be back on the 12th of October =^_^=
